How to Install on Windows

Setup under sixty seconds. macOS users — see the macOS guide below.

Step 01

Download the Archive

1.4 MB archive — manifest, auto-patcher, checksum.

Step 02

Locate Your HOI4 Folder

Steam → right-click HOI4 → Manage → Browse local files. Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron IV.

Step 03

Drop the Manifest

Copy in. Replace — original backed up for rollback.

Step 04

Launch the Game

Your subscribed Workshop mods load alongside the unlocked DLCs.

Step 05

Continue Iron Man Runs

Existing campaigns validate against the new manifest — checksum survives.

How to Install on macOS

Universal binary, Intel and Apple Silicon, macOS 11+.

Step 01

Download the Archive

Saves to ~/Downloads.

Step 02

Quit HOI4

Fully quit from the dock.

Step 03

Browse Local Files

Steam → right-click HOI4 → Manage → Browse local files. Default: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Hearts of Iron IV/.

Step 04

Show Package Contents

Right-click hoi4.app → Show Package Contents → Contents/Resources/dlc/.

Step 05

Drop the Manifest

Unzip and drag dlc_manifest.json in. Touch ID confirms.

Step 06

Bypass Gatekeeper

If macOS blocks the auto-patcher: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.

Step 07

Launch HOI4

Workshop and Iron Man both load cleanly.

Apple Silicon note: HOI4 runs through Rosetta 2 on M-series Macs. The unlocker is universal.

Rolling back: the original manifest is at dlc/_backup_manifest.json. Restore at any time.
